"This trip exceeded our expectations in every way. Everything was perfectly planned, and it was an ideal balance of optional "group activities" and free time. The selection of hotels was very well considered, taking into account both comfort and location.  

Not having any prior experience traveling to these areas of Europe, we can't imagine having done this trip any other way. The added bonus was meeting a group of really great people that I won't be surprised if we meet up with again on a future trip.

"Spyglass Tours makes Oktoberfest easy! They did all the work and we had all the fun! It was so nice to have everything organized for us so that we could enjoy the week at our leisure. The subway pass for a week made getting around easy and we didn't have think about how to go about getting one. The hotel was clean and nice and very centrally located. We enjoyed meeting and spending time with rest of the tour group, and at the same time having the freedom to come and go as we pleased. "My wife and I went on the Oktoberfest tour with Michael and Ivy for our 30th anniversary. We were in Munich back in 1985 near the end of our first and only other European trip. We could see Oktoberfest being set up from our hotel window, but we had to be back in London within two days and couldn't risk missing our flight home. Then and there we made ourselves a promise that someday we'd come back for Oktoberfest. Originally we tried to set up the trip on our own, but couldn't find available reservations. In my opinion, that turned out to be a blessing. The travel agency we ended up going through found Spyglass tours for us. Michael and Ivy of Spyglass were the perfect hosts and guides. If we had been able to reserve seats on our own we would have been more than a bit lost. So here follows what we gained by going with Spyglass: A great, well placed hotel right near the meeting place for the orientation tour and transit hubs. A 5 day transit pass that covered all the local forms of transportation. A complete tour of the Oktoberfest grounds, both completely around the perimeter, and inside. A verbal history of Oktoberfest with explanations of why there are no garbage cans, why there are Italian police, etc. Warnings of what is acceptable and not. These pointers were quite valuable for preventing unwanted situations that one might not foresee due to cultural and legal differences from our own country. Being part of a tour group for multiple days. If we'd been completely on our own, we'd have missed making the friends we did. Having reserved tables with the full spectrum of food to try. Having charismatic and friendly hosts like Michael and Ivy! My wife and I are looking forward to more travel in the future, and we will absolutely use Spyglass again."

"I did the 2013 Oktoberfest, Amsterdam and Bruges tour and had an absolutely fabulous time. I was originally going by myself and the day I left for Germany my husband decided he didn't want me to do this by myself so Michael worked with him from Germany so that my husband was able to surprise me in Amsterdam. I can't say enough about Michael and Ivy. It was the best surprise I've ever had. They also helped me out as I didn't fly directly into Munich, but flew into Frankfurt so I could use my airline points. They booked my train from Frankfurt to Munich and got me a hotel room in Frankfurt the night before I flew back home, even though everyone else was going back to Munich. It was the perfect combination of guided tours and time on our own to do what we wanted. Michael and Ivy assisted with tour reservations when needed. They did a great orientation tour at each city, showing us how to use public transportation, gave great tips on what to see and where to go and made the experience better than it could have ever been on our own."

"The entire tour was wonderfully organized and met all of our expectations and then some. This was our first trip to Europe and as overwhelming as planning the whole experience seemed at first, Michael and Ivy made it seem easy. We appreciated the fact that we were given other options for side tours, attractions, etc. Although you travel somewhat as a group, you are not "herded" together like cattle, and told you have an hour here or two hours there. You get a VERY informative orientation upon arrival at each destination and then have the freedom to plan how to spend your time seeing what you want not what the group wants. Michael and Ivy have got this thing figured out for travelers like us who need some assistance but aren't looking for hand holding! They are very knowledgeable and wonderful hosts! "Michael and Ivy did a splendid job and we greatly enjoyed our tour. Having a reservation in the Tradition Tent made the experience the best, as we felt we were able to really get the feeling of the real Oktoberfest. The welcome drink at the Augustiner Beer Cellar was such a great way to kick off the stay. We stayed at the Motel One Sendlinger Tor, which was a great location. Only yards from the subway station which was only two stops away from the Oktoberfest site, or from the trams. Even only a 10-15 minute walk away from the Wiesen. Also close to the Mariaplatz, and other locations. Michael and Ivy were great hosts. In the months leading up to our trip, they promptly replied to several emails I had sent them. During our night in the Tradition tent, they did their best to ensure that everyone in the group had a good time, and I can't believe anyone didn't. There was plenty of time for us to go out on our own and explore as well. We met several nice people in our tour group. I would definitely use Spyglass Tours again, or recommend their services to friends and family. Had the time of my life. Thank you Michael and Ivy"

Everything including tent reservations is arranged for you and all you have to do is go and enjoy yourself and you can take in the sites of Munich at the same time. To try and arrange the same Oktoberfest experience for yourself would be probably be more expensive and less rewarding. Wish I had done it years ago."

"My husband and I attended opening weekend 2010 for our Honeymoon. We had a spectacular time! Our hotel was directly on the opening parade route - we literally walked out of our hotel to horses lining the streets. It was great knowing someone was there to help you out especially since this was my husband's first time "across the pond". Beer tent reservations were fabulous as well. It was a wonderful experience and we will never forget it! We were only there for 3 days, but I would recommend a longer stay to anyone planning a trip, especially mid week when the crowds aren't so outrageous."
